It appears that Mr. Sachs' hasn't had to deal with a political bully.
The point is, that we had to stand up to the threat issued by a Dictator
who may think that he is in control of the world as he wishes he
was. Now Xi is looking foolish for having issued a threat he cannot
back up because he's trying to humiliate a real superpower.
We made bad decisions going into Afghanistan and Iraq but
that was because bad leadership had managed to game its way
into power against the wishes of the majority. Do not conflate the
reasons for the three miserable events. Dictatorships everywhere
have had a taste of good economies, now their single-minded leadership
is undoing all of their fans as companies and entrepreneurs leave.
