We really need to get money out of politics one way or another or
we risk losing our democracy. Money plays an outsized part in
politics simply because it can single-handedly fund a primary
challenger, who can easily unseat a medium to low-profile incumbent
and even some high-profile incumbents. Republicans are terrified
by the prospect of facing a primary challenger and so they feel they
have no other choice but to tow the party line no matter how insane
it might be.
