Even had a slave developed skills that could be useful when freed, that former
slave still had to deal with discrimination/segregation and the dangers of
jealous Klansmen and other white supremacists who would undermine him
and/or imprison him, tell lies to disadvantage him as a competitor. So it wasn't
the zero-sum game these liars are trying to portray it to be.
