Wait just a cotton picking minute... Being paid a wage means you're not
a slave??? Why didnt the Souther Plantation Owners think of this?
Theycould have just paid a penny a year and presto no slaves eh?
I mean, why would workers need food stamps/snap benefits? Only
if employers were allowed to pay wages insufficient for workers
to survive without public assistance, that means tha the state is
effectively underwriting "wage slavery" where the "wage" is
just an argument that the employee is not a slave in common
language usage.
