There should be laws to decommoditize housing in certain areas.
Pass a law that home purchases in some areas must be lived in
by the buyer period, if not the house cannot be brought or sold.
That way houses in these areas would drop and be affordable. Of
course this needs more thought, I'm just throwing out a simplistic
version of the idea.
