But... It takes brains to get things done without creating another authoritarian government while doing so. The danger is that while everyone loves authoritarianism when it's doing what they want it to do, authoritarianism doesn't always do what its supporters like, nor does it always do sustainable things. Authoritarian governments often turn into kleptocracies where the insiders steal everything in sight and leave only when a destitute public runs them out.
