Remember he was caught returning evidence to witnesses already. He's a stealth Trumpist, it's that simple. Look; it doesn't take a genius to know that to simply shutter the case would cause a huge public uproar and so to obviate that uproar assertions that the case is ongoing even while you shutter it down. The man is deceitful as you will see in the end.
