Republicans and their court appointees are constantly ticking off more and more of the boxes that are indications that our democracy is going to fail completely, it's what Putin and Xi are counting on. If we can't get a handle on it America will collapse into squabbles and fights where nothing at all can get done. Our nation's institutions, traditions, and economic structures will quickly turn to ashes with astonishing speed. The nation's wealth will be plundered and our industries wrecked by kleptocrats.
