As usual the denials make less sense than the most reasonable suspicions. Putin says he had no interest in an American billionaire with a mile wide ambition and a known penchant for politics, most especially at a time when Putin and his oligarchs had great use for an American real estate empire that could launder large amounts of money easily. Go figure! One little tape and presto, a free money laundering machine.
