The highly polarized U.S. government is not only serving no one
it is destroying the future for generations to come. The inability
to conclude the shutdown is ruining the finances of families already
struggling in the early years of careers. That means that there are
little to no contributions being made towards retirement nest eggs.
Partisan political plays have already erased many of the "safety valve"
regulations designed to attenuate the risks of runaway capitalism.
Worse, is the fact that we've elected people who put their own
ideological ideas ahead of the national interest, thereby further
mangling the American ability to "form a more perfect union."
and alienating the nation from the allies we were once able
to depend on.
In the short run, anyone can do without the help of others
for a while, most especially if one is already very rich and
powerful. But "time and the tides" have a way of eviscerating
those who go it alone for very long. Try to remember that,
as wealthy as America is, we still rely on the goodwill, faith
and trust of the world to finance our debt. Debt that this
wasteful war of choice is increasing without any visible
benefit. Especially worrisome is the fact that negotiations
could have avoided these unnecessary and wasteful losses.
Long story short: Our present leadership is unable
to correctly evaluate the utility of various options
open to them. This war is being fought with money
borrowed from the countries Trump has abused and
alienated. Remember that when you pay for gas,
groceries, rent, and when you go to vote!
