While this is great news, it is not the poor who I expect will
go ballistic over food shortages. The poor always suffer and
So they are used to suffering, and they have grown to expect it.
It is the "middle class" that is the greatest danger of discontent.
They are not used to severe privation or food shortages.
And they aren't hurt by the snaps' failure; they are hurt by the
damage done to the distribution systems that will create roving
shortages at first, and total food outages later on. They are
the ones who are largely intolerant of shortages of any kind
and of food shortages in particular, and worst of all, many of
them are also heavily armed, making harm to them a terrible
combustible mix for the maintenance of peace, since they are
also the nation's armed forces as well, police, militias, and
soldiers, whether still in or outside of their command.
