The reason Trump cannot take the witness stand in his own defense is that there is so much impeachment material available that no personal defense is able to succeed. Trump never took the advice of his own hired professionals ever, the history of his convictions by jury trial show he is believed to be beyond deceitful by jurors at trial. This is a handicap his willful and wanton stupidity have created for him. He seems to believe that whatever he says from moment to moment is what the listeners should believe in wholeheartedly. That is a RIP roaring fantasy land the malicious jerk has lived in all his life and his life in New York city has supported that view for far too long. Obviously he should have been in state prison long before he was able to run for President.
