In my opinion, Putin is planning to use a military feint to influence our elections. It is clear to me that he has studied America's politics and he is looking for the place to "drive the wedge", so as to put another unqualified president in power and/or alter the congressional levels of competence. Our stupidity and incompetence works in his favor immensely.
