He's wearing a mask when he doesn't need to, because: it's called setting an example. Trump, being only concerned with himself, feels he doesn't need to set any examples, as long as he's safe nothing else matters. His followers don't need to be safe, they instead need to help him prove his point -- that the pandemic is a hoax or nothing to be overly concerned about -- so that Trump can look good. That his followers/supporters might get sick and die, or that they might go home and infect their friends and family members [who might also get sick and die] is of no concern to Trump.
