With potential customers, literally out on the street with no income, or no disposable income, how are small businesses supposed to survive? If they're forced to wait for Bill Gates or Paris Hilton to walk into their shops and spend, spend spend, they might just as well close up now. Most small businesses are dependent upon large numbers of small consumers making lots of small purchases.
