The Chief Justice still maintains one of the highest credibility ratings in the nation, as such, it will not go well for any Senators who attempt to override his decisions with jingoistic partisan fare! While his presence is Constitutionally required at any Senate trial, there is nothing that requires him to stay and lend his imprimatur to any kind of fraudulent mock trial.
