Nuts! Indian guru coaxes 400 followers to cut off their testicles, grow closer to God

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh said the castrations would bring the men closer to God.
There may be easier – and less painful – ways to get closer to God.

An Indian spiritual guru and multi-millionaire has convinced up to 400 followers that they should cut off their own testicles, Metro reported.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, 47, said the castrations would bring the men closer to God.
The painful procedures were carried out at a hospital owned by Singh, who is worth $40 million.

He also has around 50 million followers worldwide. Singh has been dubbed the "Guru in Bling."
The men were castrated around the year 2000 but the cases are only now coming to light as Singh is accused of grievous bodily harm by India's Central Bureau of Investigation. READ MORE

Sheriff Who Fought To Nullify The ACA Raising Money Online For Medical Bills

This could have been avoided.
Hello, chickens coming home to roost! Long-time readers of C&L should be pretty familiar with Richard Mack, crazy Arizona sheriff who was last seen in public visiting the White House, while supporters outside called for President Obama's lynching.

Mack ought to be shaking the President's hand and thanking him for the Affordable Care Act, but he's not. Instead, he's raising money online to cover medical expenses incurred after he suffered a heart attack in January and his wife fell ill in late 2014.

Former Arizona county sheriff Richard Mack, a fierce opponent of Obamacare and a leader in the "constitutional sheriff" movement, is struggling to pay his medical bills after he and his wife each faced serious illnesses. The former sheriff and his wife do not have health insurance and started a GoFundMe campaign to solicit donations from family and friends to cover the costs of their medical care.  GO FUND ME PAGE LINK

"Because they are self-employed, they have no medical insurance and are in desperate need of our assistance," reads a note on Mack's personal website.

Mack, the founder of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, suffered a heart attack in January and is in recovery. His wife fell ill late last year. Mack is on the board of Oath Keepers, a right-wing fringe group made up of police and military veterans, and is known for supporting Cliven Bundy in his standoff against the federal government. He is also an ardent opponent of Obamacare.  READ MORE.

South Carolina Christian School Fourth Grade Science Quiz

Via Joe.My.God:

The source of this quiz is the father of the student who took it.  He will not identify the school until June, after his daughter finishes the school year there, after which she will move to another school.  Snopes rates this item as "probably true.

I'm pretty much speechless here.  Plus, the test speaks for itself.  FROM THE SITE

Why do white churches continue to use debunked white images of Jesus & other biblical personalities?

Leonardo da Vinci painted his version of "The Last Supper" from 1494-1498. It's famous. It's special. It's important. What it isn't, is historically accurate ... at all. Using only European models, in a European environment, da Vinci painted a distinctively European portrait of what was actually a very Palestinian moment that took place a full 45 generations before the painting was created.
How different did your family look 45 generations ago?

If you did a portrait of the United States, using European models, of what America looked like 45 generations ago, how accurate would it be?

It might be missing a few Native Americans, right?

Do you think it would be offensive for the most famous portrait of America in 500 A.D. to exclusively use British models?

Let's flip the logic for a few moments in a way that may disturb your racial sensitivities a bit more.
What if we painted a portrait of Hitler and his army, but chose to use only African models? That'd be weird, right?

Or what if we did a portrait of George Washington and his first cabinet and used only young Latino models? That'd be pretty funny, right? READ MORE

You Won't Believe Roy Moore's Answer As To Why He's Not Like George Wallace

Alabama Supreme Court Chief Injustice Roy Moore has given an interview to the Associated Press, explaining his illegal fight against marriage equality in Alabama (some states never learn) and why he's not the modern-day reincarnation of George Wallace.
His answer to the latter question has to be seen to be believed.
From AL.com (emphasis added):
Moore's actions have drawn inevitable comparisons to former Gov. George Wallace's 1963 largely symbolic "stand in the schoolhouse door" aimed at preventing desegregation at the University of Alabama, nine years after education segregation was ruled illegal.

Moore said there is another difference.
"George Wallace moved," he said, noting how the former governor eventually stepped aside

"I can't move from my position because I'm bound to uphold the Constitution," Moore said.  READ MORE

Rep. Glenn Grothman urges constituents to keep an eye out for poor people at grocery stores

As the man most likely to someday usurp Rep. Louie Gohmert's throne as America's Dumbest Congressman, Wisconsin's Rep. Glenn Grothman has some mighty big shoes to fill. I think he's up to the challenge.

Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) reportedly said at a town hall in his district last week that constituents should monitor purchases made with debit cards from Food Share, which is Wisconsin's name for the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Grothman "told the people in attendance to keep an eye on the types of things people on Food Share buy at the grocery store," Oshkosh Northwestern Media reported Monday.
Because that's what poor Americans really need, to have the whole store looking over their shoulder when they're buying groceries, looking to see if there's anything there that Congressman Glenn Grothman needs to know about. Don't you think you should be buying generic-brand rice, not the fancy stuff? Do your kids really need romaine lettuce? What the hell's wrong with iceberg? A bag of chips? You. Monster.

Yeah, that will make everything better. READ MORE

Barbara Boxer Knocks It Out Of The F*cking Park With GOP Hypocrisy, Irresponsibility & Obama Hatred

"This is a self-inflicted crisis, made up by the Republicans. It is dangerous, it is the height of irresponsibility, and it's unnecessary."-Barbara Boxer, February 24, 2015 (regarding the GOP threat of a Department of Homeland Security shutdown.)
I love this speech, I love this lawmaker. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) minced no words on Tuesday when addressing Republicans. I tried to choose only a few excerpts, but there were too many jewels (and still more in the video). Tell me, if you don't agree. In the beginning of her speech, Senator Boxer states:

We all know Republicans won in huge numbers in the 2014 election, and they took over the United States Senate and they run it. They run it. Or at least they're trying to run it. And let's be clear, less than eight weeks after they took  over the Senate, we are facing a shutdown; a shutdown of the very agency that protects the health, the safety, the lives, of the American people - the Department of Homeland Security.

They're shutting down the program that funds our police officers back home, our firefighters, our first responders. Any way you look at it - this is a national disgrace. And think about what our friends abroad, and those who are not our friends, are thinking about this.

Republicans say, 'Oh, we're in danger, we have to go to go to war, put combat troops on the ground!' But they're wiling to shut down the department that protects Americans here in the homeland, from a terrorist attack. READ MORE
