It would never happen that you could find yourself in a country where all your rights would be respected without having them in writing. There will always be people who find profit in corrupting the issues in ways that disempower others. Remember, there are people who are stupid enough to do what the would-be dictator wants them to do because they see personal profit in doing so and disregard any and all effects their actions have or will have on anyone else.
Because we have written laws we are able to identify and/or figure out which "carve outs" need to be made and where. Of course, this makes law complicated and this is why we need practiced professionals who spend all of their working time dealing with these complexities. Dicatorships have no such laws because their word is the law and thus the law can be altered on the fly. If they have "lawyers or law" it is in name only because it is not in anyway fixed such that carve-outs and exclusions can be identified and fixed. Obviously we do not want anything like that for America because we would not know what we could or could not do from moment to moment.

Just as we thought, Trump has been left with only clowns as lawyers because only people with little understanding of anything at all are "smart enough" to work for Trump. Just try to imagine yourself being tried for murder and your lawyer gets up before judge and jury and says: "Hillery did it!" as if that had something to do with the case when it doesn't. Trump's lawyers are presenting arguments that sound good only to Trump himself, but in reality, are something that even sixth graders would not present as a defense for anything at issue there.
Worse yet is to realize that this man was running America for 4 whole years. Yet 40% do not realize that this is why we're in the terrible shape that we're in right now.

Bypassing the "bumper sticker" sloganeering assumes that all voters are smart enough to know what they're voting for and why. We know, by Trumpism, that that is not the case and that some 40% of the nation's voters haven't a clue of what they're voting for, against, or why. Worse yet is the fact that they do not care, they vote to allow a deadly virus to not only infect them but to also allow themselves to carry and spread the virus to others, including their own family members and do so because it's called "freedom". In short, they are willing to vote against their own interest if they are presented with a catchy phrase or a scary alternative as "the problem".
