If you are vaccinated and boosted, omicron doesn't cause you much of a problem because if it infects you, it replicates in the nose and throat instead of going down into the lungs. That means that while you won't suffer much at all, you will still be able to spread the omicron virus while the infection persists. That's the reason that vaccinated and boosted people still need to wear masks because they can spread the disease to others if they get a "breakthrough" infection.
