Remember: The rule of law is the only thing that restrains the powerful hand of the state from doing as it's even most minor functionaries from doing as they please with you and yours. It not only takes a good body of written law, but it also takes people, high and low, inside of government who know appreciate, and believe in the rule of law and what it does for our rights and freedoms. Once such people are forced out in sufficient numbers, you can
forget about getting them back. Which is why civics must be taught in schools because we need a constant feed of people who know of and believe
in the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law it creates and how it creates the
rights and freedoms we enjoy.
