Ultra, against the backdrop of where we could not chance to have
the English fall, Roosevelt had no real choice but to allow Pearl Harbor
to be attacked because he would lose critical time in confronting
the rapidly advancing German war machine in the hands of Hitler
who could not be controlled. Had we been staying from entering
the war by the prevailing attitudes, there's no telling what
other successes Hitler might have made. But we can guess that
many more lives would have been lost in the cost of stopping him.
