As the methane releases cause rises in concentration within the local weather system, this will at times create a methane enriched bubble or dome under which heat from the sun collects creating an ephemeral highly localized greenhouse. You can then theoretically get huge areas where the temperature rises exceptionally high for short periods of time. These "methane dome" heat events can chain across a much larger area and disturb the entire ecosystem of the continent. We are chasing a huge catastrophe the likes of which will become unstoppable by the time we are forced to finally acknowledge the damage we have done.
