The problem with religion getting the powers of STATE is:
Once the "One True Religion" becomes the STATE recognized one,
They feel they are duty-bound to reform the "heathens" and, of course,
any "heathens" who cannot or will not be "reformed" (much like "pray
away the gay") Then they become "Blasphemers," the penalty for which
is death. Carrying out such penalties makes enemies, and that leads to
a growing class of revenge seekers ad nauseam. Now you know why
