People paying 50% or more of their income for rent will be the first to
fall off the raft. Medical and other emergencies will decimate many more.
Many of the "fallen" will be exactly who businesses need to survive, but
there will be no way to recover them. The American economic and social
environment will become so toxic and chaotic that few, if any, will be able to
plan a recovery, let alone a survival strategy. We're headed to a
"Thunderdome world," where money will mean a whole lot less than
survival skills.
