The USSC is rather hamstrung because any ruling in Trump's favor will
dramatically change the way America is able to function in light of
Constitutional law, it will also mean that there are no more "Perks" for
the court since they will no longer be either needed or effective. Thomas
may very well have to repay his loans and Alito gets no more fishing trips.
The courts become captive rubber stamps of the executive and that's it.
The fact that the court is moving so fast means they recognize that the
issue is critical for Constitutional reasons, which means they are aware
that an error will impact every facet of the democratic republic. I sincerely
doubt they will want to change that as things are complex enough as it is.
Further, they won't want to hand over their own hard-won power to a
new dictator whom they will appoint by ruling in error.
