Lake is a patented idiot, and that's assuming that the Russians woulld
even bother to let a prisoner know who they were being exchanged for.
Of course, Russians would have absolutely no reason to tell any prisoner
anything, even perhaps that they were being released. But Lake says
she would decide to stay in the Russian prison until she knew who she
was being exchanged for. It boggles the mind how anyone could be
so clueless/stupid.
