The Taliban freed those prisoners because they could not feed or care for them, it would have exposed them to global criticism were they to start dying. Meanwhile, Qatar wants a contract/agreement on how the airport will be managed. Apparently, there were issues with management decisions. The trouble is, if such an agreement or contract were to issue, who would be the arbiter of dissents? The Taliban has no mechanism for impartial court systems etc., so obviously, some third party would have to be chosen. All of which goes to show just how incapable and unstable is the coalition of some 14 or more groups cobbled together to accomplish the takeover. Such issues need to be tackled before any foreign aid can come in or before any enterprise can be initiated.
