By empowering vigilantes to enforce the Texas abortion laws the legislature has set the stage for unrecoverable tragedies to occur. Vigilantes are notorious for having all manner of designs both inside and outside of the law. Tragedies are sure to occur when mistaken or retaliatory or vindictive reporting ensues and causes terrible trouble which the at-fault party cannot shoulder indemnification or otherwise recompense their victim(s). I will suggest that the state will then be the responsible party for having empowered the miscreant(s) and given them the cause that impelled them to action.
