The easy way to tell the whole WMD's thing was a fraud is that when someone came forward with evidence that put the lie to their claims, they struck back, not by refuting the evidence but by outing his wife Valerie Plame and sent a whole nuclear weapons tracking wing of the CIA down the drain endangering hundreds of agents and people cooperating with them.  The point is that with the whole world watching us spouting rhetoric about "rule of law" we prove once again, after Nixon, that while we can jail a hungry man for life for stealing a loaf of bread, We cannot, in reality, enforce our laws equitably.
