Book bans and anti-intellectualism are signs of authoritarianism.
The problem is if you let it creep up on you by echoing things you
agree with without realizing the impact it is having on the freedoms
of others, you will one day get to witness its progression to
atrocities. It is inevitable that authoritarian rule fueled by hatred
will eventually descend into abominable atrocities. This is because
such regimes rely upon the sycophantry of haters whose methods
devolve as they attempt to please the whims of their leader.
