This is why the moderators at the debates need to do the fact-checking.

Otherwise, if one candidate opens a "firehose of lies", the other speaker

is then forced to use up their valuable time debunking rather than

offering their own ideas/agenda. If the moderators are forced to

consume the debate time doing the fact-checking, then the blame

for that accrues squarely to the offender and not to the hamstrung

opponent.
