DeSantis knew this would be a national news event!
Question: If DeSantis had nothing to do with it, why is he so concerned
with explaining that it was done in a legal fashion? If you or I had nothing
to do with a crime, we would not be concerned with explaining how it
could have been legal, right?
But then there's another question;
DeSantis is trying to tell us that the victims consented to his ministrations.
Why would anyone believe that people under maximum stress could
be able to legally give consent to what would obviously be against their
own best interest? They were told a number of things, meant to persuade
them to consent to the transfer, but none of those things were true. Thus
the "consent" wasn't really consent but coercion. A 12-year-old for example
Mr. DeSantis would consent to sex for ice cream, but that consent would not
be deemed legal because the child could not fully appreciate the consequences
of their own actions. That should tell us that immigrants newly across the
border and without resources or knowledge of the laws and much more,
would have enough knowledge of the consequences of their decisions
to be able to give a legally acceptable version of consent and DeSantis
would know that.
