Presidents have too much power, they shouldn't be so freely able to punish their critics. Perhaps punishments by Presidents should be submitted to a bipartisan committee of say 5 Dems and 5 Repubs and stayed unless a majority votes to approve it. Otherwise, the Presidents powers to silence critics is kinglike.
