You don't act as your own attorney because of the possibility of issuing an incriminating defense, i.e. "They could not know for certain it was me, because I was wearing a mask!", you cannot see such a self entrapment coming because you are working from a picture you have inside your own head and knowledge of how that picture was made and how it should be viewed. What you don't see is how the impartial viewer will see it
