Generals are not Politicians, a general knows that as long as you stuff someone's pockets with cash at gunpoint they're going to cooperate. Politicians know that cooperation obtained by paying cash at gunpoint is not going to lead to the desired conclusion whatever it may be.
Hey, here's a novel idea: What if Congresspeople would put their aides to the task of verifying what Congress is being told? For what earthly reason does Congress have to take the word of whomsoever should appear to testify?
