Hee, hee, hee, no one needs to threaten Manchin, he either figures it out for himself or he loses. Threats only foster bad feelings among participants so no, threats are not the way to go, most especially when one is trying to fashion a threat based on what other people may think or do. I'll agree that Manchin is fashioning a "tough row to hoe" for himself in the next election but hey, he's going to have gotten so much dough by then he just may not care a whit.
