China is likely to be put off by bad Taliban behavior so I think the Taliban will value their Chinese connections enough to avoid bad optics. We'll see. While on the other hand the Taliban would hardly want to set off such a bad taste in the world that China might be tempted to start a "peacekeeping mission" to Afganistan, with a 5 million man highly disciplined and motivated military China would be a fearsome competitor if such a thing should arise.
