Ah, Johnny, one of the all-time great tonite show hosts, laid back, sedate and comfortable easy listening and viewing sleepy time late night pour yourself a drink and relax, no edgy drama needed, we had enough of that during our day.  Carson hit just the right light yet current pitch and that made him very popular.  By comparison today's entertainment is a constant stream of never jangling pschodramas.
