Just like a conservative bench, they're thinking of granting the President "limited sovereignty", you know, the kind of sovereignty Henry the 8th and Caesar had, eh? That's like granting your wife a "limited pregnancy", it just doesn't work that way. Wherever misdeeds/evidence can be hidden that is exactly where, every politician knows, it will be hidden. Didn't the Senate just say: "We believe the impeachment managers made the case that the President committed the acts charged in the articles, however, we do not believe that those acts rise to the level that require the President be punished therefor". So, now Presidents have the right to lie to Congress and obstruct justice/congress and it's not an impeachable offense. A ruling like that would make the task of Congressional oversight of the Executive, so complicated as to be well neigh impossible. Oh well, I doubt that anyone in government today knows exactly what their mission is anymore.
