Will Pelosi's Strategy To Put Trump Impeachment On Hold Pay Off? | The 1...
This "trial" is not and will not be a trial! Because a "TRIAL", is a process that involves a selection of impartial "jurors" empowered to hear evidence and testimony and to render their verdict, based on what they learn and find during the presentations by the opposing parties.
Calling this abomination that McConnell wants to present as a trial, is like calling a locomotive a donut. A donut is not a locomotive and a group of people who are predisposed, not impartial, cannot be any part of a trial.
Thus, the only way for the Senate to hold a trial, is to force the recusal of any who are not impartial. Such people may not render the verdict. The Constitution gives the Senate great powers over how to ensure that a fair trial of the complaint is heard and they should avail themselves of it.
Since partisans cannot hold a trial, and every lawyer in Congress knows what a trial is, they know how to contrive to have a trial constituted and prosecuted. In short, you cannot simply label some conjob as a trial and expect the nation to accept it.
