He has every reason to try to cut a deal with the prosecution, after all, there are a number of venues where he could be sent to serve out his sentence and some are decidedly better than others. But the criminal Barr must not be allowed to oversee any further Justice department matters. The Senate must rescind it's confirmation and order him removed post haste.
