Sorry Acosta, your explanation doesn't pass the smell test.  If the locals were about to lose the case, how could you hope to win on the federal level?  With Epstein represented by the best lawyers, you had no leverage at all.  If you believed you could win, however,  then that is what you should have done, not walk away and leave him with a sweetheart deal and free to continue his predatory life style.
