Here's a read for anyone who has been entertaining the idea that slavery could have been a benefit to slaves, because of their benevolent masters. After reading this you'll realize that most slaves were being worked on starvation diets, injured by "disciplinary actions" and left to die from infectious diseases. If they survived at all, you will be left to wonder how that happened.
