Quick Victory! Activists Quash JC Penney's "Too Pretty to Do Homework" T-Shirt for Girls
Early this morning, Twitter was abuzz with activist outrage against of this T-shirt as part of JC Penney's fall, back-to-school collection for girls:
Reading, "I'm Too Pretty to Do Homework, So My Brother Has to Do it for Me," the shirt immediately drew the ire of feminist activists and members of the YA publishing community, and anyone with common sense, basically. Jenna Sauers at jezebel noted that even the promo copy on the website was offensive, writing, "In case your little lady-brain can't quite fathom the point, the page itself is titled "Girls 7-16 Too Pretty to do Homework" and the product description asks, "Who has time for homework when there's a new Justin Bieber album out?""
