Current TV has released some ratings figures for the first night of the reborn “Countdown with Keith Olbermann,” and they’re a lot better than the host led listeners to expect they might be. “Countdown” attracted 179,000 viewers between the ages of 25 and 54 — the key age group for cable news advertisers — on Monday night. Not only is that close to the total audience of 200,000 that the show was drawing in its early days on MSNBC, according to Olbermann; it’s not far off the 237,000 viewers age 25-54 who actually watched Olbermann’s replacement, Lawrence O’Donnell, Monday night.
