Unless I miss my guess it's already too late to recover. Too many people have been fooled into voting their own special ideology, over the good of the nation, that we will probably never get things back together. White supremacist voting against "the others" while nazi's and neocons vote for chaos and their man Trump has made the appointments that have wrecked our institutions, means the bill of rights is null and void and the Constitution is now just what Bush called it "just a piece of paper". The kleptocracy that is about to ensue is going to take everything away from everyone and shrink the American economy to the size of Latvia. We need people to start marching now, before the impeachment trial is declared over. That is unlikely to happen so Trump will now do whatever he wants since Congress has proven ineffective.
