How soon we forget that there are other countries out there who are working night and day to take over the world and erase freedom from the face of the earth if they can as soon as they can. This is why we consider Russia an enemy, for they would end democracy and make our republic into a dictatorship. Republicans seem to want that to happen, by way of getting their own way on relatively minor issues of religious and/or racial natures.
