Warning Graphic Photo: Possible New Evidence Shows George Zimmerman's Bloodied Head

The damning old wound

A new photograph obtained exclusively by ABC News showing the bloodied back of George Zimmerman's head, which was taken three minutes after he shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, gives possible credence to his claim that Martin had bashed his head against the concrete as he fought for his life.

The revelation comes as his attorney and prosecutors prepare for Zimmerman's bail hearing today, which could result in his being released from jail. Zimmerman, 28, is being held on charges of second-degree murder for the Feb. 26 shooting of Martin, which could carry a life sentence if he is convicted.

The exclusive image shows blood trickling down the back of George Zimmerman's head from two small cuts. It also shows a possible contusion forming on the crown of his head. The original police report that night notes that the back of Zimmerman's head was wet, and that he was bleeding from the nose and head.

Zimmerman told police that night that he shot and killed the teenager in self-defense after Martin punched him and pounced on him. Zimmerman told police that Martin then bashed his head into the concrete sidewalk during the altercation that took place in the tidy middle-class development of the Retreat at Twin Lakes in Sanford, Fla.

Zimmerman was treated at the scene by paramedics, then cuffed and driven in a police cruiser to the Sanford police station. He was questioned for hours and later released. In police surveillance video obtained last month by ABC News Zimmerman's wounds are not apparent, and there were no bandages on his head.     READ MORE

What's wrong with this picture? Besides the fact that it's not new, it's been around for some time now and was known of as well.

But that aside, look at it and remember it was supposedly done on wet pavement. This picture is some three minutes after the police arrive and so the wound is some 4 minutes old. See those clear blood trails? Then remember that these wounds were supposedly opened, before Zimmerman and Trayvon fought on the grass, with Zimmerman supposedly on the bottom crying for help.

What? No debris? Oh wait, maybe the neighbor cleaned his head up. You know, where the blood mixes with water and spreads all over. I guess someone wiped all the smears away.

Well stay tuned, I'm sure some one with medical expertise will be giving us some expert opinions. But for me, this is only another "nail" in Zimmerman's coffin, because Trayvon shows no evidence at all on his body, of being engaged in a struggle for life.

I wonder which medic treated him. I mean an open wound, made on concrete then rolled in the grass, has to be cleaned and bandaged. I see people saying he was treated in the police car, but no one has yet come forward to say they were the one who did it.

The ambulance sent for Zimmerman was canceled.

and what great insight he had to get someone to photograph it 3 minutes after he killed someone..why..pretty clever for someone who was one blow away from being a vegetable. Looks like the blood trickles down and to the side, how does blood trickle like that when your head is on the ground? looks like he was upright with his head tilted forward when the blood started. Oh that's right, there is a dead kid on the ground but someone has already cleaned the back of his head within 3 minutes....great blog

This picture is supposedly taken at about 4 minutes after Trayvon was shot. So, the wound could not be more than some 6 min. old. I can't assess the age of the wound but I read that
there are lots of changes that happen in the first half hour or so of an injury. So, perhaps a medical examiner might be able to tell the difference between a wound that's perhaps 6 to
8 minutes old and one that's as much as 20 or so minutes old.

That aside, does this look like a wound made by having his head banged repeatedly on wet pavement, then rolled around in wet grass?

The reason for these questions is, 1. 2 Ambulances were sent to the scene initially. One for Trayvon, and another for Zimmerman, but the one for Zimmerman was cancelled.

2. They say that Zimmerman was treated at the scene. But the narrative doesn't quite match the evidence. The police disarmed Zimmerman then handcuffed him and put him in the police
car. Which is where his treatment at the scene supposedly took place as near as anyone can tell.

But, from the view at the station, his head wounds are neither cleaned nor bandaged.

3. Because "it takes two to tango" as it were. And because this was supposed to have been a "life and death" struggle, which Zimmerman says was a wrestling match for his gun. Trayvon's body has got to show some kinds of scratching, bruising, welts or scraps. His knuckles should be bruised from the punch that supposedly broke Zimmerman's
nose. His wrists should really show the effects of "death grips" that go with struggling for control of a gun. But the mortician says Trayvon's body shows no signs at all, that he
had engaged in any kind of fight.

I would think in a case like this, if there were wounds on Zimmerman that did not come from the fight (which appears to have not happened), Then where could they have come from?

Well, my first guess was that they might have been created in the police car, although I thought that a long shot, because I'm averse to blaming the police of collusion in this case, and because it would be far too big a risk for anyone of them to take.

So, it occurred to me that they could have been created sometime before he left home. After all, he would not be closely observed by anyone, excepting the victim who would
never get to testify.

Remember, Trayvon walks past Zimmerman's truck. Zimmerman can easily roll down the window and challenge "I'm the Neighborhood Watch man, where are you going?" With Zimmerman still in his truck, and armed to boot, there's almost no chance at all
that he'd be attacked, such that he has to use deadly force. Instead, he follows Trayvon and we have only his word that he was returning to his truck when confronted.

Okay, let's say, for the sake of argument that Zimmerman creates these wounds at his house, before he leaves home. The wounds would be nearly 20 minutes old, by the time some neighbor takes this photo of them. I get the very strong impression that, if the wounds were really that old, that would be a serious reason for Zimmerman, not to want treatment for them, because he'd fear that a medical professional would know that these wounds were not 4 to 5 minutes old, but 15 to 20 minutes old.

I don't believe the police would have any trouble with helping Zimmerman avoid treatment, heck, they could probably do that without even having to be in any kind of collusion. Because all it takes is the same sort of inaction that police customarily engage in at crime scenes.

If Zim doesn't want treatment, they're happy to cancel the second ambulance, because they don't relish the delay it introduces, nor the extra paragraph to fill their reports.
